Partnership for Environmental Education

Annual Scholarship Criteria

We urge all Senior JERFSA students to apply for one of the two $1000 scholarships being awarded by the Partnership for environmental Education (PFEE).  This is a single award to help the student with their future educational endeavors.

Applications will be made available beginning January 13th, 2017. They must be completed and turned in NO LATER than February 17th, 2017. Applications received after this date will not be considered.

Applicants must be a JERFSA Senior in good standing which means: no probations, must have fulfilled (by Spring deadline) the choice program agreement, must have completed all community service hours, summer assignments and their Senior Project.

A good applicant will demonstrate the goals and objectives of the Environmental Academy.  Some of the ways in which you can demonstrate this which will be considered by the Scholarship Committee:

  • notable participation in Enviroservice
  • attendance at Seminars
  • Envirothon participation
  • Green Initiative Participation
  • Exceeding community service hours or doing exceptional work
  • Impact of Senior Project
  • Participation in Partnership fundraising and outreach events
  • Club participation and leadership demonstration

An exceptional candidate will have an excellent GPA, demonstrate leadership through organization of a campus-wide, community-wide or Academy-wide project or contribution, and a focus on community environmental leadership.  Further, an ability to explain your goals and your Senior project during an interview with the committee is a must.

Once your application is received, it will be reviewed and the top candidates will be notified for an interview.  The interview is required and will take place on April 6th, 2017 beginning at 4:00.

Scholarships will be awarded at the JERFSA Senior Awards Night in April.
